EMG/NCV:  ELECTROMYOGRAPHY

EMG/NCV testing is utilized as an objective diagnostic procedure to support a diagnosis or rule out medical issues.

EMG/NCV testing is performed to find diseases that damage muscle tissue, nerves, or the junctions between nerve and muscles.  Problems in a muscle, the nerves supplying a muscle, the spinal cord or the area of the brain that controls a muscle can cause severe symptoms.  EMG/NCV testing can additional find damage to the peripheral nervous system, which includes all the nerves that lead away from the brain and spinal cord and the smaller nerves that branch out from those nerves.   Testing helps distinguish between muscle conditions and nerve disorders.

All EMG/NCV diagnostic testing is performed by a qualified, certified, and highly experienced Neurologist or physicians specializing in Pain Management and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR).  Testing is done with state of the art equipment and in accordance with protocols as designed by the American Medical Association.
